Orland GOP Endorses Candidates for the February 2nd Primary
The Orland Township Republican Organization (OTRO) today announced the results of their endorsement session for the February 2, 2010 primary election.
“Each of the members of our growing organization, which includes numerous precinct captains and members who are Republican activists and supporters, is provided with a secret ballot containing a control number, watermark and gradient signature to ensure its authenticity. All candidates were encouraged to attend our meetings and present their views to the members as a group or speak to them individually,” said Republican Committeeman Liz Gorman.
To receive the endorsement of the organization, a candidate must receive the votes of 60% of those members who returned their ballots or voted online.
After the official tally of results, the OTRO has endorsed:
Mark Kirk for United States Senator with 64% of the vote;
Dennis Cook for Illinois Lt. Governor with 85% of the vote;
James Dodge for Illinois Comptroller with 84% of the vote;
Molly McAvoy Flynn for State Representative- 37th District with 60% of the vote;
John Garrido, III for Cook County Board President with 66% of the vote;
Elizabeth “Liz” Doody Gorman for Cook County Commissioner with 100% of the vote; and
Elizabeth “Liz” Doody Gorman for Republican Committeeman with 99% of the vote.
Sean Morrison for Cook County Board of Review with 96% of the vote;
There was no endorsement in the race for Illinois Governor because none of the candidates were able to attain a 60% majority of the votes.
